NCC Featured in ADCET’s National Practice Spotlight

We’re proud to share that Nepean Community College (RTO 1223) has been highlighted by ADCET in their latest Practice Spotlight, recognising our commitment to building genuinely neuroinclusive education.

The article showcases our recent endorsement by the Neurodiversity Academy, placing NCC among the first four organisations in Australia to receive this recognition. It also shines a light on the work happening in our Developing Skills for Education and Careers (DSEC) program — a space where many learners who were previously excluded or unsupported in traditional schooling finally find a place to thrive.

The Spotlight explores how NCC’s approach grew from listening deeply to students’ lived experiences, understanding what hadn’t worked for them in the past, and redesigning learning environments around safety, communication, accessibility and respect. It also highlights the leadership of our Training Manager, Jade Leggatt, and the College-wide commitment to neuroinclusion through staff training, a dedicated support role, and our neuroinclusion champion.

ADCET notes that NCC’s model may serve as a pilot for other education providers across NSW, demonstrating how small, intentional changes can transform learning experiences for neurodivergent students.

Good Things Foundation Visitor

We are excited to hear that our Get Online Week Event on 19th of October will include a special guest, Ms Imee Rose Anciano who is the Head of Programs for Good Things Australia!  Come along and meet Imee and take part in the The Penrith Digital Passport & Beat the Scammers! Money Minded Coaches

Next week many of our accredited trainers and assessors, alongside staff, will be trained as Money Minded Coaches thanks to ANZ believing in our ability and desire to bring simple financial advice services to the Nepean region. To find out more about this program go to Money Minded . We will let everyone know when the assistance will be available at the college. – Update: We now have 8 staff fully trained as Money Minded coaches and will be announcing new courses and services in the New Year. Stay tuned!

We are officially Neuro Inclusive

Did you know that we are the first Community College in Australia to be enorsed by the NeuroDiversity Academy? Our staff undertook intensive training in neurodiversity prior to a strenuous audit of our training practices by the Academy, and we now have official endorsement as a Neuro Inclusive College.  Our Endorsement ID# is 47283.  Find out more about this by visiting the Neurodiversity Academy website.

Bendigo Bank and NCC

Bendigo Bank at Richmond have kindly funded us to bring a fun component into our ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology.  This will be the first step in our mission to bring more STEM learning to the Nepean Region, particularly to people who would not normally get the chance to have that.  More to come on this topic, so stay tuned!

Get Online Week

It’s almost time for Get Online Week which has been subsidised by our friends at the Good Things Foundation . We have lots of fun and learning about digital devices for Seniors ready to go.  Tell all your friends about it or call or drop in to the Westfields Office to book your place for the Week beginning 19th of October.  It’s going to be a lot of fun, and there will also be cake!!

Mantana Foundation Grant

We are so happy to have been awarded a grant from the Mantana Foundation which will not only enable us to have our staff trained as Love Bites facilitators, but also to develop and implement a brand new & unique to Nepean Community College – Personal Health and Safety course for teenagers. Watch this space!!!

Young Digital Mentors

Did you know that Nepean Community College is the only Community College in NSW that has been awarded a grant from the Good Things Foundation to train young people to be Digital Mentors for Seniors?? We are running this program over the next 2 years and welcome all young people aged 15 – 24 to phone us to enrol.  It only takes a few hours of learning and then you can volunteer as a Seniors Digital Mentor.  This is a fantastic opportunity for young people who want to gain experience and a certificate for resumes, or to build up volunteer hours for Duke of Edinburgh or Girl Guides or Boy Scouts.  If you know of anyone who could benefit from this fantastic opportunity, we would love to help them achieve their goals!

Seniors Week – 3rd March 2026

Nepean Community College was an active participant in Penrith City Council’s Seniors Week 2026, held at The Mondo.
The event attracted a strong community turnout, with many people coming together to celebrate this important occasion.
It was especially rewarding to reconnect with past students and even an old client, making the day feel like a real success.

 Street Libraries and Book Club

Nepean Community College is once again demonstrating its commitment to our community by introducing ‘street libraries’. Four specially constructed libraries have been created, with two placed on stands to highlight the importance of reading. We are grateful to Tony Glynn for his creativity in constructing the libraries.

Additionally, two will be installed within the college itself. Look out for our new Book Club – starting soon!

 Rise To Greatness 

Nepean Community College (NCC) has officially launched an exciting new relationship with Rise to Greatness (RTG)—bringing entrepreneurship and business education to the next level!

The launch was held on 26 February at the Liverpool Catholic Club, alongside RTG’s inspiring two‑day conference.  After six months of collaboration, NCC and RTG have developed a new course based on the BSB40320 Entrepreneurship and New Business Training Product, designed to support people ready to start or grow their own business. We were also thrilled to have amazing guest speakers, including Chris Do, sharing their experience and insights with attendees.

 Mamre House opens doors for young people returning to learning 

Nepean Community College has worked alongside Mamre House for around two decades, delivering literacy and sewing classes to Sudanese refugee women and supporting community learning on the site. 2025 marked a new stage in that relationship, with NCC now also delivering a structured education program for young people aged 15–17 who are returning to learning.

The program offers a three‑day‑a‑week pathway toward the FSK20119 Certificate II in Work and Vocational Pathways, giving students a safe, encouraging environment to re‑engage with education. Families are already seeing renewed confidence and motivation in their children, and the initiative continues Mamre’s long tradition of providing hospitality, opportunity and practical support to people who need a different way back into learning.
