Interior Design Foundations - 'Create Your Mood, Find Your Style'

This 8-week course offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of interior design, perfect for beginners or those looking to refine their creative eye. You'll explore how to develop moodboards to communicate ideas, understand colour theory both in principle and real-world application, and gain insight into key historical styles and trends that continue to influence interiors today. The course also covers essential styling techniques, helping you bring spaces together with confidence and intention. By the end, you’ll have the tools and knowledge to design cohesive, thoughtful interiors from concept to finish.
Target Audience:
Adults who wish to become skilled and confident in redecorating or renovating their home or simply adding a refresh in a particular space.

Learning Outcomes:
- Understanding the fundamentals of Interiors. Practising the use of a refined visual eye. Recognise the difference and life-span of trends Understanding the basics which in turn become the beginning of the core Principles and Elements of Design.
- Practical input helps build confidence and in this case, a good insight into your own style.
- Stengthening visual identification of colour. Understanding how Light can alter colour. Applying Tonal values to your colour choices.
- Helps to gain more confidence in colour selection
- Gaining an udnersatnding on recognising the ‘Trade mark” aspects of various styles.
- Students can tap into their creativity and think deeply about the space they are designing.
- This take-home piece will help the student feel more empowered if dealing with builders/trades etc. Even if not currently renovating or wanting to make changes, this is a vital exercise to complete and will build confidence.
