Sewing: Pants That Fit

Struggling with pants that don’t fit quite right? In this hands-on tissue fitting workshop, you'll learn how to determine your correct pattern size and adjust any commercial pants pattern to suit your body. Discover solutions for common fit issues and gain expert tips for creating a flattering style. Using Palmer/Pletsch fitting techniques, you'll modify the McCalls pant fit pattern 6901, leaving with a customised pattern you can use again and again. You'll also learn how to sew your pants and fine-tune the fit.

Sewing: Pattern Fit

Learn to adjust any pattern for a perfect fit using hands-on tissue fitting techniques. In this workshop, we minimise measuring—because measurements alone don’t reveal everything about your body. Discover your true size and start with the correct pattern. You'll focus on bodice and skirt alterations using Palmer/Pletsch fitting methods with McCalls pattern 7279 or 2718. After making adjustments to the basic pattern, you'll leave with a personal body map and the skills to modify any fashion pattern of your choice. Participants are encouraged to tissue fit and alter additional dress patterns.

Sewing: Tailoring Made Easy

Learn to construct a tailored, lined jacket using a commercial pattern, Palmer/Pletsch fitting techniques, and modern tailoring methods. Master essential skills that will enhance all your sewing projects, including pattern alterations, precision cutting and marking, interfacing and fusing, shoulder and chest shaping, shaped darts, trimming, quality pressing, sleeve heads, buttonholes, pockets, lining, and flawless hems. Basic sewing skills are required.

Sewing: The Basics and Beyond

Whether you're an absolute beginner, have basic sewing skills, or are an experienced sewer looking to refine your techniques, this course is designed for you! Learn sewing fundamentals, master your sewing machine, expand your knowledge, complete unfinished projects, get assistance with fitting, or simply enjoy sewing with expert guidance.

Students will create an item of their choice using commercial patterns, covering pattern selection, alterations, layout, cutting, construction methods, and sewing machine operation. More advanced sewers will be guided through garment construction and encouraged to explore new techniques.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to complete a basic garment or item.

Skirt in a Day: A-Line

SEWS-P

A-line skirts are universally flattering and one of the easiest garments to make. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn to draft a custom skirt pattern using your own measurements, cut it from your chosen fabric, and construct it with simple sewing techniques. Master essential skills such as sewing straight seams, creating darts, inserting a zipper, attaching a facing or waistband, and finishing a hem—all in a single day! Basic sewing skills are helpful but not required.
