This course is designed for people who would like to learn the basics of the French language and their culture in a group environment.

Topics Covered include:

Introducing ourselves Grammar Regular verbs Conjugation: Present tense Regular verbs using Present/Imperfect and Future Tense Verbs To Be and To Have Open questions and Vocabulary for travellers Questions for asking directions Time and numbers Vocabulary for travellers Pronouns demonstrative/indefinite/definite and interrogative Body parts vocabulary Overview of previous sessions Oral test - conversation In a restaurant scenario: Ordering from a menu and asking questions to a waiter/waitress Overview of previous sessions Role Play: At the train station/metro/taxi/hotel/shop and restaurant Conversation using vocabulary for transport and holidays. Constructing longer sentences using adjectives. Scrabble game (in French using simple words)

Course Outcome

Students will be able to have a basic conversation in French.
