Topics Covered include:

1. Identify purpose and context of text Identify key information to assist comprehension 2. Identify purpose and context of text Identify key information to assist comprehension Interpret a limited range of vocabulary related to the topic of dialogues 3. Use and respond to expressions to open and close dialogues Respond to and use requests for clarification or repetition Pronounce key content words and expressions with sufficient clarity and stress as to be intelligible Use open and closed questions to elicit information 4. Use statements to describe, explain or recount Use high frequency subordinate clauses Use vocabulary related to topic and context Use body language to support meaning 5. Students will listen to a 5 person dialogue talking about going to the beach to gain key information and vocabulary 6. Students will listen to a recount of a student excursion to gain key information and vocabulary 7. Students will hold a 2-person conversation in which they will recount to a partner a description of their childhood and take turns to maintain interaction. Students will be required to listen, question and answer. 8. Students will hold a 2-person conversation in which they will recount to a partner an explanation of their plans for the future and take turns to maintain interaction. Students will be required to listen, question and answer.

Course Outcome

Students will be practice speaking and listening using English language to engage in basic social dialogues.
