Office Skills Set


The Office Skills Set course is intended for people who would like to increase their skills or refresh their computer knowledge relating to creating various business documents. Participants need to have basic computer knowledge and access to a computer. In the Office Skills Set I present 5 accredited units from the Certificate III in Business Administration which enable participants to learn how to:

WHS at the computer workstation and ergonomics MS Office 2010 applications and selecting the most appropriate one for your task Documents' purpose and audience and organisational and task requirements Plan/design document following requirements Use appropriate tools/functions to ensure that task requirements are met (layout, structure, style, appearance, readability) Using appropriate application tools to enter accurate data, format text, insert table, edit and proofread document, name, store, preview and print as per organisational requirements Importance of completing the task within the designated time frame using relevant help functions WHS at the computer workstation and ergonomics Business letter structure Following organisational guidelines to prepare and design business documents Selecting appropriate and professional style and layout Input accurate information Use appropriate MS Word 2010 tools to format and edit a business letter, proofread, name and store Use mail merge function to complete the task, proofread and produce business letters within a time frame WHS at the computer workstation and ergonomics Usage of spreadsheets and charts Getting to know MS Excel functions Planning a spreadsheet knowing its purpose and audience and organisational requirements Importance of proofreading Entering accurate data into spreadsheets Using correct formulas and functions for calculations Format spreadsheets as per requirements Proofread spreadsheets Print spreadsheets WHS at the computer workstation and ergonomics When to use electronic presentations Identify the purpose, audience and mode of presentation Considering easy comprehension, readability and consistency when designing presentation Using templates Getting to know MS PowerPoint functions Planning and preparing slides following set requirements Using appropriate template and functions to achieve consistency and readability Proofreading and printing handouts WHS at the computer workstation and ergonomics Using MS Publisher Identifying purpose, audience and organisational/task requirements Designing content structure and layout Selecting templates and functions to arrange information and graphics Using MS Publisher functions create a brochure and a membership card within a given time frame Following task requirements and style guide Proofreading documents, checking information structure and page orders, name and store Printing documents in required format

Course Outcome

At the end of the Office Skills Set students will gain computing knowledge at intermediate level and confidence in using safe work practices in creating digital text and professional business documents using MS Word 2010, creating spreadsheets using MS Excel, making electronic presentations using MS PowerPoint and producing publications using MS Publisher.
