Perfumery - Basics: Olfactive Experience

Description

This Course is open to any audience interested in Aromas, Scents, Fragrances and is not subject to have adverse reaction to smelling fragrances. This Course is challenging our Senses to connect with Scents and Fragrances through a series of Workshops that will explore the relationship of the sense of Smell with other Senses and create a Synaesthetic Experience, meaning a close relationship of Scents with Colour, Texture, Temperature, Movement, Emotions and Memories. Your creativity and imagination will be taken to different places. A Body of Work will be created on each Workshop Activity.

1. The Theory behind the Olfactory System (Sense of Smell) - Overview Fragrance Wheel Categorisation Fragrance Families Different Ways of Describing Fragrances Raw Materials 2. Theory about Perfume Notes Theory about Perfume Accords Overview of Perfume Families How to smell or appreciate fragrances? 3. Examples of various Accords for each note How many Ingredients (from simple to complex accords)? Examples of Commercial Perfumes with Accords 4. What makes a Perfume to last? (Fixatives) What makes a Perfume to be: Bright, Dark, Vibrant, Warm, Cold, Aereal, Aquatic, Sweet, Balsamic, Powdery, Milky, Creamy? The Order in Ingredients Matters in Perfume Composition 5. Theory of Pyramid Structure in Perfume Notes 6. Theory of Pyramid Structure in Perfume Notes 7. Theory of Pyramid Structure in Perfume Notes 8. Theory of Pyramid Structure in Perfume Notes Calculations for each Accord formulation for specific size of bottle Warnings, Proportions and Use of Perfumes

Course Outcome

The Student will understand the basics of Fragrance Scent Appreciation. The Student will be challenged to explore the connection with the Olfactory Sense (Smell) and the Visual Sense (Vision). Practice Mindfulness with this experience. The Student will be able to describe in writing and with colours or shapes a Scent. The Student will be able to know the elements of a Perfume Fragrance and an Introduction to the different Families of Fragrances in Perfumery.

A5 Paper Watercolour or Acrylic Block Watercolour or Acrylics, WaterColour Pencils (Basic Colours, red, yellow, green, blue, black, white) Watercolour paper Pen,Pencil (HB) and rubber and basic Acrylic or Watercolour son brushes Notepad to take notes Approx cost $ 60.00
