Topics Covered include: Making fruit ,vegetables, animals in fondant First of many flowers to be learnt. The carnation shows basic skills for future work Bringing back finished dried flowers made from previous week to colour using food colour and powders Making several small flowers to achieve a small arrangement to complement the carnations previously made Using royal icing in piping bag. Several different types of roses using sugar paste Using a small fruit cake students will learn how to achieve a smooth cover of icing over their cake Your covered cake will have pipe work and flowers or fondant bow arranged on top Course Outcome At the end of the course they will have achieved how to cover a cake in fondant, basics flower making ,pipe work etc and have a finished decorated cake of the skills they have learnt throughout the term. This will help them to continue with the ever growing imagination of cake decorating. On the first session bring Note pad and pen. Packet of baby wipes. Own plastic table cloth. Small packet of fondant icing. Container to take work home in. Small knife Items to be purchased during the course The first class will have a discussion on equipment needed to achieve future classes. There will be a kit available for purchase but not compulsory. Some equipment people may already have at home and not realised they can use it for decorating.
